WORLDVIEW MEDIA

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XcjaG6IDhBErdcmAm1ZfYyvVKWCnQoVFGoSsYFNugkI/edit
Outcomes [Worldviews, Media Literacy, Virtue& Values]
I wrote this media paper in my Worldviews class. This class was very beneficial, considering that it is about the world around us. The paper was to be about how media devices portray basic worldview questions. The questions I answered in my paper were: “How do we know what is right or wrong…What is the human nature…Is it possible to anything?” And from those questions we talked about, I analyzed a clip from the movie Slumdog Millionaire about those worldview questions that bear on all areas of life. I also realized how much media influences our everyday outlooks on life. Any type of mass communication has underlying effects on the world, either for the good or bad of each individual. Slumdog Millionaire had character’s that were mostly good and mostly bad, I had to figure analyze that in my paper. Watching the clip and then thinking about what to write about showed me that people on this crooked earth still have values and virtues. Like the main character in the movie; he shows honesty and diligence, kindness, faith, hope all for love. Doing this project and analyzing this character pushed me want to be a better person through my actions or everyday life, and to not be a cheat.

FRANKENSTEIN

Outcomes [Reading& Literacy, Written Communication, Literature, Christian Ethics]
My AP English class was a challenging one but I have plenty of outcomes from it. Reading and literacy are two big ones that I have developed over the years, especially this year. For this paper I read Frankenstein and then scooped out the good stuff, and figured out what made this book a book and then wrote about it. Written communication is another outcome that I gained form writing this paper as well as taking this class. I wrote this paper with all the knowledge that I learned this year. I expressed my ideas and thoughts, something that I will need for my college career as well. Literature is another outcome, this fits better into the class that I took over the paper that I wrote in the class. I have stepped up my knowledge of what is good literature, and a sense as to what is degrading, misleading and enlightening. I wrote many papers for this class, but this paper on Frankenstein revealed to me Christian ethics. The man Frankenstein was trying to be moral, but in reality he was just as horrible and immoral as his creation, which is saying a lot. I read the book and put to use everything i learned in the class, and wrote this essay that says Frankenstein's monster was originally good, not bad he had morals, that other broke before he did. In a nutshell I say that we are all made good, even when we make the wrong choices.

CAMP DUMAMIS

Outcomes[Respect& Reconciliation, Leadership, Christian Formation& Witness]
Last summer I had the opportunity to travel with mid-school students to a bible camp in California. It was incredible, and I had a blast. A major issue that Camp Dunamis stressed was being reconciled with God, no matter what your race was. The camp was beautifully diverse, and we were all there for the same reason, which brought in respect, and developed the outcome of respect and reconciliation for me. I was a junior consular at the camp, and I definitely had to step up to be a leader to all the girls in my cabin. This outcome of leadership is a big one, I was leading these girls and some boys to start the most important relationships they will ever gain; with Jesus Christ. I learned that being a leader is a hard job, but it pays off, because helping others is the best gift in my eyes. The camp had great worship services, everyone was involved and everyone was blesses. The outcome of Christian formation and witness came into play while I was up in the California mountains. I was spirituality enriched up there along with all my cabin girls, and we all left crying, yet wanting and seeking to be disciples of Jesus in our community, church and schools back in New Mexico.

ETHIOPIA

Outcomes[Cross-Cultural Communication, Self-knowledge& Purpose, Social Relationships]
I went to Ethiopia a few years back, and it was the best experience of my life. And this always happened but, I got more out of the trip than what I ever imagined. I thought I was going to shine for people in Ethiopia, all the while they did alot more shinning for me. We blessed each other in many ways. I gained knowledge in the area of cross–cultural communication, Ethiopia opened me up to a completely different culture for weeks, and I had to adjust to their culture. It was hard at first but I got through it. However, this leads to how I now achieved more self-knowledge and purpose to my life. I went to Ethiopia and I served the people there, and I served God. I know that I have a purpose in this world, just like every Ethiopian I met there, we are all the same under our God, and that is a really beautiful thing. And lastly, social relationships, man was created to have relationships with others, and that is something that I took advantage of while I was in Ethiopia. I met so many new, amazing people that I have relationships with now. I experienced different ways of life that I would have never experienced if I did not go. This was one of the best decisions of my life.

CHURCHROCK

Outcomes[Work, Gifts& Calling, Hope& Direction]
I started as a volunteer that went to Churchrock Academy from time to time, and then I got a job as a teacher assistant for their after school program.  Rehoboth has a connection with Churchrock, and so that is a big reason as to why I got a job there, and it has definitely shaped me. And for that I am blessed. Working at Churchrock has helped me along the lines of practicing the ways of the workplace at a school setting. It is completely different than sitting in class because, now I am the one that has to take charge. Timeliness, honesty and respect are characteristics that I have developed that will benefit me greatly in the future. Working with the children from Churchrock has opened my eyes as to what my gifts and calling may be for my future. It has helped shape my career choice, even though I don’t want to be a teacher, I know that I enjoy working with others, and serving them and there needs. And working with these children has made that clear, because I find this service fulfilling and enjoyable. However, the major outcome that I have grasped from my job with Churchrock is hope and direction. I have figured out that a God-given gift to me is serving others. And along with that, I want to have a hopeful future and I am very excited for life to start as soon as I am done with high school. At Churchrock I witness a lot of despair and poverty within the community, and that only directs me to go on and come back someday and help communities that struggle in our area.
